Al Hoceima: expulsion from marital home conviction upheld

The appellate criminal chamber of the Al Hoceima court of appeal upheld a first-instance ruling in a case of expulsion from the marital home, after declaring the appeal admissible in form.
Ruling definitively and in absentia against the defendant, and as adversarial for the civil claimant, the court confirmed the contested judgment and ordered the convicted woman to bear the costs of both proceedings.
At first instance she had received a two-month suspended prison sentence and a 2,000-dirham fine, plus 2,000 dirhams in civil damages.
