Customs & duty-free guide
Bringing goods into Morocco? The basics most travellers need:
- Duty-free allowance — Limited duty-free quantities apply to tobacco, alcohol and new goods; declare anything above them.
- Local currency — Bringing euros/dollars: amounts above the threshold must be declared. Keep exchange receipts.
- Prohibited items — Narcotics, weapons, and certain medicines without prescription are prohibited — check before you travel.
- Declaration forms — The green/red channel applies at Nador Port and Arwi Airport. When in doubt, take the red channel and declare.

Each summer Morocco’s ports and airports gear up for the diaspora return. What to expect at Nador:
- Peak season — Ferry traffic intensifies June–September; book crossings early.
- Border lanes — Dedicated lanes and welcome areas (Marhaba pavilions) speed up formalities for residents abroad.
- Documents — Keep your passport and residence card handy — they are checked at the border.
