Al Hoceima: mutilated dolphin washed ashore

Al Hoceima: mutilated dolphin washed ashore
A dead dolphin was found on Souani beach, west of Al Hoceima.
It was a striped dolphin, about 180 centimetres long and weighing nearly 150 kilos.
An initial inspection showed its tail fin had been cut with a knife, suggesting it was targeted after becoming entangled in drift nets.
Such gear threatens biodiversity in the Mediterranean.
Dolphins play a key role in balancing marine food chains, and their decline signals a broader ecological disruption.
The incident highlights the need to strengthen environmental monitoring and tighten controls on illegal fishing.
