Exceptional promotion for police officer who died during operation in Al Hoceima

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance decided to grant an exceptional promotion to police officer Hamza Zaaam, who served in the anti-gang brigade of the regional security in Al Hoceima, in recognition of his sacrifice in the line of duty.
The decision follows his death after being injured during a security operation in Imzouren, involving elements of the anti-gang brigade and the royal gendarmerie, to arrest a wanted person.
The suspect, aged 25, was the subject of about 20 national arrest warrants for drug offenses, attempted murder, and forming a criminal gang.
He offered violent resistance using a hunting rifle, fatally wounding the police officer and injuring a specialized technician.
The forces managed to arrest the suspect and subject him to a judicial investigation.
