The regional union council of the National Education University (UMT) in Nador held a meeting to assess the start of the school year, attended by representatives of various educational categories.
Participants discussed several dysfunctions, including the management of surpluses and deficits in human resources, leading to teacher transfers and redeployments without professional stability.
They also raised the abolition of class splitting in scientific subjects such as physics-chemistry and life and earth sciences, arguing that this hinders practical and experimental sessions in laboratories.
They noted persistent shortages of teaching staff in some subjects like mathematics and philosophy, as well as overcrowded classrooms, which increases teachers' workload and affects the quality of learning.
The council also discussed the implementation of the pioneering schools project and the accompanying changes in professional practices.
Speakers stressed the need to adopt clear criteria in human resources management, involve social partners, improve working conditions, and handle files through dialogue.
They affirmed that defending public schools and the dignity of teachers are inseparable paths, and declared their readiness to fight legitimately for rights and achievements.
