With the approaching legislative elections on September 23, no candidate from Zaio is among the contenders for the parliamentary seat in the Nador constituency.
This void has prompted candidates from other regions, notably Mohamed Boudou of the Popular Movement Party, to exploit it.
Boudou, from Ras El Ma, runs under the symbol of the ear of wheat, making Zaio a key stop in his campaign, considering it an important electoral reservoir.
This move comes as voters in Zaio debate their choices and the possibility of supporting outside candidates.
Recently, Boudou has expanded his network in Zaio, a sign of his growing presence.
But the real challenge remains converting this presence into votes, as Zaio could be decisive in the electoral competition.
