Oujda court removes six deputy mayors of Selouane

The administrative court in Oujda has ordered the dismissal of six deputy mayors of the communal council of Selouane, in Nador province.
The ruling follows a request by the provincial governor based on a report by the Interior Ministry's inspectorate and audit committees.
The six officials held the posts of first through sixth deputy.
The court accepted the appeals, ordered immediate enforcement and referred the responses to the royal commissioner, who stressed the need to apply the law.
The decision rests on Article 64 of the organic law on communes, which allows the representative of the territorial administration to seek the removal of elected officials for acts that breach regulations and harm the ethics of public service and the interests of the commune.
