The port of Nador West Med welcomed its first container ship at the new terminal on Monday, 21 September 2026, signalling the shift to commercial operation.
The step follows the completion of technical preparations at the eastern terminal, whose operator declared readiness after trials of equipment, systems and teams.
The port's gradual entry into service is expected to boost logistics and trade in the region and strengthen northern Morocco's position on Mediterranean shipping routes.
