A young man from Selouane in Nador province died last night after falling from a rocky slope near Bades beach in Al Hoceima province while trying with a group to reach the coast for an irregular crossing.
The victim lost his balance on a difficult mountain path and fell to his death.
In the same context, Royal Gendarmerie officers from the Imzouren brigade arrested 89 people preparing to set sail illegally from the same area.
Local authorities, gendarmerie and civil protection attended the scene and an investigation was opened into the circumstances.
The incident highlights the recurring dangers of irregular migration.
