Judicial police officers in Oujda, working with national security services in Nador, arrested a 58-year-old man early Monday on suspicion of killing a 40-year-old woman with a hunting rifle.
The victim's body, bearing two gunshot wounds that ballistic tests showed came from a hunting rifle, was found Sunday evening in Oujda.
The investigation led to the identification of the suspect, a Moroccan living abroad, and his arrest in Nador as he was preparing to leave the country, with the two spent cartridges used in the crime found in his possession.
Initial findings point to a prior relationship between the suspect and the victim, who reportedly met Sunday evening in the Al Jorf district of Oujda.
The suspect remains in police custody pending the judicial investigation supervised by the competent prosecutor's office.
