The King's Attorney General at the Al Hoceima Court of Appeal issued an official statement about a security operation on September 7, 2026, which resulted in the death of a police officer and injuries to two gendarmes and a civilian.
The operation aimed to arrest a nationally wanted individual suspected of trafficking hard drugs, forming a criminal gang, organizing illegal migration, and attempted murder.
During the arrest attempt, the suspect fired a hunting rifle, killing the officer and wounding the gendarmes and civilian.
The suspect was also wounded in the leg after forces used their service weapons in self-defense.
During the siege of the suspect in a house, individuals from the same gang tried to intervene with two cars and fire shots before forces arrested him and later detained two others.
The operation seized a hunting rifle and a drone.
The prosecutor denied rumors on social media, stating the operation was part of crime fighting and legal measures will follow the investigation.
