The King's Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Al Hoceima denied information circulating on social media regarding the arrest of a person wanted for drug trafficking.
He clarified that the operation took place on September 7, 2026, when judicial police attempted to arrest a dangerous individual wanted for several crimes, including trafficking in hard drugs, forming a criminal gang, organizing illegal immigration, and attempted murder.
During the arrest attempt, the suspect used a hunting rifle, killing a police officer and injuring two gendarmes and a civilian.
The suspect was wounded in the leg by a bullet during the security forces' self-defense.
Gang members tried to intervene with two cars, but police managed to arrest the main suspect and two others.
A firearm and a drone were seized.
The investigation continues.
