Al Hoceima Prosecutor Clarifies Circumstances of Police Officer's Death in Confrontation with Drug Traffickers

The King's Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Al Hoceima issued a statement on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, clarifying the circumstances of the incident that occurred on September 7, which resulted in the death of a police officer.
He confirmed that the operation aimed to arrest a dangerous person wanted nationally for drug trafficking, forming a criminal gang, organizing illegal immigration, and attempted murder.
During the raid, the suspect opened fire with a hunting rifle, killing the police officer and injuring two gendarmes and a civilian.
The suspect was also wounded in the leg.
Gang members attempted to intervene with two cars and fire at security forces, but the main suspect and two others were arrested.
The firearm and a drone were seized.
The prosecution denied rumors on social media, affirming that the operation was part of crime fighting.
