Al Hoceima: solidarity with Hirak detainee on hunger strike
The local section of the Moroccan Human Rights Organization in Al Hoceima expressed solidarity with detainee Nabil Ahmijik, imprisoned at the local prison in Tangier, after he announced a hunger strike to protest the lack of response to his demands regarding his conditions for continuing his university studies.
In a statement, the section said Ahmijik demands the necessary conditions to prepare his university thesis in prison, like free research students.
The organization also called for an end to his solitary confinement, warning of its negative effects on his psychological state and his ability to research and write, as well as on his human dignity.
It stressed the need to keep him at Tangier prison to remain close to his family and comrades, promoting his psychological stability and the continuation of his studies.
The organization affirmed that the detainee's right to education must be respected according to international conventions and national laws, urging authorities to respond to his demands to preserve his dignity and fundamental rights and enable him to continue his academic path.
