Driouch: Douar in Amtalssa Hit by Power Cuts and Floods
Residents of the douar Oulad Ali Ben Hammou in the Amtalssa commune, Driouch province, have been living in isolation for two weeks due to power cuts and sudden floods.
The main transformer burned out due to a short circuit, without the regional multi-service company repairing it despite days passing.
The outage coincided with heavy rains and a drop in temperatures, worsening the suffering of children and the elderly.
The floods also submerged seven licensed buildings in the economic activity zone of Driouch, due to rainwater flowing from the mountains through three ravines.
A technical committee from the province concluded that the lack of infrastructure such as paved streets and drainage channels worsened the situation, recommending the paving of streets and the creation of water drainage channels.
