Local authorities in the province of Nador announced that they recovered two bodies of migrants off the coast of the city on Saturday morning, after the sea washed them ashore.
Initial information indicates that the victims drowned while attempting to swim towards the occupied city of Melilla.
The bodies were transferred to the morgue of Hassani Hospital, where they were found to belong to a man in his fifties and a young man in his thirties, and were in an advanced state of decomposition.
An investigation has been opened to determine their identity and the circumstances of the incident.
This event occurs amid an increase in irregular migration attempts along the northern coasts, despite authorities' efforts in surveillance and rescue.
