Two Earthquakes Hit Al Hoceima and Azilal
Morocco's National Institute of Geophysics announced on Saturday evening the recording of two earthquakes in the provinces of Al Hoceima and Azilal, one of which reached a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale, strongly felt by the population.
The institute's director, Nasser Jabour, said the epicenter of the first quake was located in the commune of Arbaa Taourirt, part of Al Hoceima province, while a second quake was recorded around six in the morning in Azilal province, with a magnitude of 2.8, weakly felt.
Jabour stressed that this seismic activity remains within the normal range for the region, adding that aftershocks below two degrees are not perceived by citizens.
He noted that the latest quake stands out for its relatively higher strength compared to the usual weak tremors, and reaffirmed the institute's vigilance in monitoring any change in seismic activity levels.
