The port sector in Africa is experiencing a wave of accelerated investments in tugboats, driven by infrastructure expansion and the emergence of new ports and terminals.
Morocco stands out at the forefront of this dynamic with the entry of the Nador West Med port into an advanced preparation phase, accompanied by a strengthening of towing and maritime handling capabilities.
The company Boluda, through its subsidiary in Morocco, has received two new ASD-type tugboats, with a third on the way, to support maritime traffic in the ports of Nador and the new port scheduled for 2027.
The tugboats, built in Vietnam, are 28 meters long each, and their arrival reflects early preparation for operational requirements.
Similar investments in Africa include countries like Tunisia, Nigeria, and Guinea, where fleets are expanding to support trade and energy.
