Three new tugboats boost Morocco's port readiness

Moroccan ports are preparing to strengthen their maritime capabilities with three modern tugboats, two already arrived and a third en route from Singapore.
This initiative is part of the preparation for the Nador West Med port, whose operation is scheduled for 2027.
The tugboats, built in Vietnam, are 28 meters long each and have a power exceeding 5000 kW.
The investment of the consortium responsible for services amounts to about 45 million euros, including four tugboats with a bollard pull of 80 tonnes.
They will first operate at the port of Nador and then at the new port.
This expansion reflects a broader movement in African ports, where countries like Tunisia, Nigeria, and Guinea are investing in similar fleets to support maritime trade and energy.
