The Court of Cassation issued a final ruling rejecting the appeal filed by Mohamed Fadili, former president of the Ben Taïeb commune in Driouch province, against his removal from office and from his seat on the communal council.
The administrative court had ordered his removal following a lawsuit filed by the provincial governor, based on Article 64 of the organic law on territorial communities, after a report by the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration revealed irregularities in the management of urban planning and financial files.
The Ministry of the Interior had temporarily suspended him before referring the case to the judiciary.
The appeals court upheld the ruling, and the Court of Cassation rejected the appeal, making the decision final.
This decision ends a long legal process that sparked debate over the management of local affairs and the oversight of elected officials, reflecting the continuity of legal accountability mechanisms in Morocco.
