Rights groups in Nador call for probe into practices against migrant minors

The Nador branch of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights reported the persistence of practices targeting children, minors and young people in migration situations over the past months, manifested in chases, arrests and detentions in administrative premises, before being transferred late at night by buses to distant cities, including Casablanca and Beni Mellal, in the absence of clear legal procedures or sufficient judicial guarantees.
In a statement, the branch said it has documented cases indicating physical violence or cruel and degrading treatment, as well as the detention of minors in spaces not legally intended for this purpose, without activating the protection mechanisms provided for in national laws or involving the competent judicial authorities.
It also said it sent a letter to the King's Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Nador, calling for an urgent investigation into these facts and taking the necessary legal measures to ensure the protection of children and minors.
The branch concluded by condemning these practices, demanding an end to all arrest, detention and transfer operations outside legal frameworks, while stressing the need to activate child protection mechanisms under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office.
