Spanish economic media are watching with concern the growth of Morocco's port capacity, as Nador West Med is set to enter service gradually in the final quarter of 2026.
The project reinforces a system led by Tanger Med, one of the largest port hubs in Africa and the Mediterranean.
Investment in Nador West Med has reached 51 billion dirhams, including about 20 billion in confirmed private investment, with an initial capacity of five million containers and 35 million tonnes of goods a year.
The complex includes a 700-hectare activity zone in its first phase and the kingdom's first liquefied natural gas plant, with a capacity of five billion cubic metres annually.
Alongside Tanger Med and the future Atlantic port of Dakhla, Morocco is building a multi-front network that strengthens its position as a logistics platform between Europe and Africa.
