Nador West Med port prepares to receive first commercial ships
The Nador West Med port is nearing the start of commercial operations.
The eastern container terminal has completed a series of operational tests under real conditions, confirming the readiness of equipment, systems and handling operations.
The terminal is run by a subsidiary of the Marsa Maroc group, in partnership with International Container Terminals, which prepared the operational infrastructure and trained specialised teams.
The tests demonstrated the terminal's ability to handle large container ships, strengthening the port's position in the Mediterranean network.
At full capacity, it is expected to handle around five million containers and 35 million tonnes of goods annually, making it an economic driver for the Rif and eastern region.
