Informed sources say the Interior Ministry is studying a new territorial division after the 2024 general census, providing for the creation of new provinces and municipalities.
The proposal would split Nador province by creating a new Aroui province grouping ten municipalities, including Aroui, Zaio, Selouane and Ras El Ma.
Nador province would keep thirteen municipalities under the current division.
The project also mentions merging the municipalities of Oulad Daoud Zkhanine and Berkanyine into a single entity.
