Selouane association honours Benamane music group
The Selouane cultural association has held a ceremony honouring the group Benamane, as part of its celebrations of the Amazigh New Year and its mission to value Amazigh cultural heritage.
Benamane is an Amazigh Rifian artistic group from Nador, founded in the late 1970s by a group of teachers, which used Amazigh song to express social issues and defend marginalized groups, with lyrics addressing migration, identity, the Amazigh language, land, freedom and human rights.
Its work is marked by an engaged dramatic style and the use of authentic folk instruments, with collective performances embodying solidarity.
