Closure of Azghanghan weekly market angers civil society

The decision to close the weekly market in Azghanghan, in Nador province, has angered civil society actors who are demanding its reopening.
Local activists launched a signature campaign to press for the market's activity to resume, describing it as an economic hub and a place of memory for the city.
According to local actors, the authorities verbally informed traders of a permanent closure, a move they deem illegal because the commune did not take it.
The commune's vice-president said the council never decided on the closure, pointing to a project to relocate the market and the search for a suitable plot of land.
