Security sources report that authorities arrested Monaim El Bouazati, known as "Nini Nador", on Tuesday evening in the Azzana area of Beni Bougafar, inside a tourist establishment.
The suspect had escaped from Nador's civil prison on 17 March the previous year, after being arrested in a city café where a car valued at two million dirhams was seized.
He has multiple prior offences, including shooting at a gendarme, international drug trafficking and using unregistered vehicles.
The arrest follows the recent escape of another drug baron from Zaio's agricultural prison, aided by four armed individuals.
