Nabil Ahmajjiq, detained in connection with the Rif movement, is continuing an open hunger strike for a sixth consecutive day to protest the conditions under which he can pursue his doctoral studies.
His brother Mohamed said in a social media post that the detainee is striking to defend his right to continue his studies and prepare his thesis under conditions that preserve his dignity.
He called for him not to be left alone and for support for his demands.
Ahmajjiq had informed the administration of Tanger 2 local prison on 7 September that he was beginning a hunger strike.
The prison administration said in an earlier statement that it had offered him a single cell in another wing or a transfer to a facility near Rabat, both of which he refused.
