The director general of national security has decided to grant an exceptional promotion to security officer Hamza Zaam, who served in the anti-gang unit of the regional police in Al Hoceima and died of injuries sustained during an operation.
He was wounded while backing Royal Gendarmerie units in the Imzouren area to arrest a 25-year-old man subject to twenty nationwide search warrants for serious offences.
The suspect put up violent resistance and used a hunting rifle against the officers, killing the guard and wounding a door-opening technician, before being neutralised and arrested.
The suspect has been placed under judicial investigation ordered by the competent prosecutor's office.
