New shipping service links Nador port to Portugal and northern Europe
Dutch shipping company WEC Lines has announced the launch of a new weekly service connecting Nador port to the Portuguese port of Setúbal starting September 10.
This service aims to provide a direct sea route for Moroccan exports to northwestern European markets, reducing reliance on road transport through Spain and France.
The sea journey from Nador to Setúbal takes about three days, from where containers can be redirected to strategic ports such as Rotterdam, Antwerp, Moerdijk, Thamesport, and Montoir.
The company offers refrigerated containers for perishable agricultural and food products, as well as 45-foot containers.
This development is part of preparations for the operation of the Nador West Med port, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, which will complement Tanger Med and strengthen Morocco's logistics capabilities on the Mediterranean coast.
