The official launch of construction work on a giant tire manufacturing plant took place on Tuesday in the free zone of Boutouila, in the commune of Amjaou, province of Driouch.
The project is being carried out by the Chinese group Shandong Yongsheng Rubber through its subsidiary GOLDENSUN TIRE MOROCCO, with an investment exceeding $675 million, on an area of about 52 hectares near the Nador West Med port.
The plant is expected to create around 1,737 direct jobs, in addition to hundreds of indirect jobs, and will include research and development units as well as logistics platforms for export to European and African markets.
Work will be completed in early 2027, strengthening the region's position as an industrial hub, following the wind turbine blade manufacturing project which currently employs more than 1,200 workers.
