The King's Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Kenitra has announced the opening of a judicial inquiry following statements attributed to a candidate in the legislative elections, who allegedly said that drug money could be used to influence the electoral process.
In a statement, the public prosecutor's office said it had ordered an investigation to determine the circumstances of these statements and take the necessary legal measures.
This action comes as the country prepares for the elections on September 23, amid concerns about interference of illicit funds in the democratic process.
