Imam killed in mosque in Driouch by wanted suspect

In the douar of Ibnouha, in the commune of Imhajer in the province of Driouch, a 65-year-old imam was attacked with a club while leading the dawn prayer, resulting in his death on the spot.
The suspect, about 45 years old and from the same area, had previously lived in France before being suspected of praising terrorist acts.
He had isolated himself in an abandoned building in a mountainous region.
After the incident, local authorities and the royal gendarmerie arrested him without resistance.
He was placed in police custody on orders of the prosecutor's office, and the victim's body was transferred for autopsy.
The crime caused shock and condemnation among the population, who see it as a serious violation of the sanctity of the mosque.
