Meeting in Driouch on rationalizing water use and protecting public water domain
The Moulouya Hydraulic Basin Agency, in coordination with the province of Driouch, organized a communication meeting on rationalizing the use of water resources for irrigation and protecting the public water domain, within the framework of the national program for drinking water and irrigation supply 2020-2027.
Chaired by the provincial governor, with the presence of the agency's director and Mustapha Benchouib, president of the provincial council, the meeting brought together institutional actors and elected officials.
The governor emphasized royal attention to the water issue, stressing the need to activate the water police and ensure coherence between water and agricultural policies.
He recalled Morocco's pioneering policy in mobilizing water resources since independence.
Benchouib described the protection of the public water domain as an existential necessity, calling for support for infrastructure projects, rehabilitation of irrigation networks, and intensification of awareness campaigns.
Speakers highlighted the constraints of anarchic exploitation and low performance, while recalling the legal framework, particularly Law 36-15 on water.
