The quake occurred at 6:07 p.m.
local time at a depth of about 28 kilometers.
The epicenter was located at sea, tens of kilometers from the coast, and some residents in nearby areas felt it lightly, with no damage reported.
Northern Morocco, especially areas bordering the Alboran Sea, is a region with frequent seismic activity due to its location at the convergence of the African and Eurasian tectonic plates.
