Several residents of the douar Boumsaoud, in the commune of El Groumas, in the province of Driouch, organized a sit-in in front of the provincial headquarters to protest what they described as deliberate exclusion from the electricity grid, while many houses in the commune have already been connected.
The protesters said they had filed repeated complaints with the commune president, the caid, and the provincial authorities, but without response.
They stressed that the lack of electricity causes great harm to their families, who rely on rudimentary means for lighting.
They insisted that the situation perpetuates discrimination against other douars that have already benefited from the service.
Despite the sit-in, they were not received by any official, which they consider a neglect of their legitimate demands, and they call on the authorities to intervene urgently to enable them to access electricity.
