Mohammed Aberkane, a parliamentarian from the USFP, is running in the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026, in the Nador constituency, which has four seats.
He enjoys a broad voter base thanks to his social and grassroots work, especially in the Izzanen commune, which he previously headed.
His political journey took him from the Popular Movement to the PPS before settling in the USFP.
He faced internal competition from Suleiman Azouagh, president of Nador commune, for the nomination, but secured the backing of party leader Driss Lachgar.
Despite past legal troubles that ended in acquittal, Aberkane aims to retain his seat against strong rivals from other parties.
