According to local sources, the Authenticity and Modernity Party has decided to back MP Younes Ouchen in the Driouch constituency, following his previous victory.
This decision ends the competition with councilor Aziz Meknif and his brother Mohamed, who had intensified their efforts.
The party leadership preferred Ouchen due to his strong chances in the September 23 election.
Aziz Meknif, a former USFP member, will retain his post as councilor in the second chamber.
The announcement comes as preparations for the upcoming legislative elections in the region continue.
