On Friday, January 23, 2026, the official start of construction of Africa's largest car tire factory was given in the Tawiya free zone, Amjau commune, Driouch province.
The project is led by the Chinese group Shandong Yongsheng Rubber through its Moroccan subsidiary, with an investment exceeding $675 million, on an area of 50 hectares near the Nador West Med port.
Construction is expected to take about 30 months, with commissioning in early 2027.
The factory will create 1,200 direct jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs, with an initial capacity of 6 million tires per year, gradually rising to 12 million, mainly for export to international markets, with the possibility of meeting national market needs.
This project strengthens the position of the Oriental region as an industrial and logistics platform.
