Hanan Maaroufi, coordinator of women's work for the Justice and Development Party in Al Hoceima, said during a communication meeting organized by the party's regional section on July 11 that local development is inseparable from a political representation capable of advocating for citizens' issues.
She noted that the province has significant natural and strategic assets, such as the coastline and beautiful bay, but these have not yet been turned into development projects.
She discussed the repercussions of the February 2026 floods that affected several communes, saying the continued suffering of residents reflects the need for more effective political representation.
She called for ensuring election integrity, equal opportunities, and removing the influence of money and power, stressing that restoring citizens' trust begins there.
She also mentioned challenges of irregular migration and drugs, insisting on the need to adopt a development model that places people at the heart of public policies.
