Omar Aourag Appointed Regional Security Chief in Al Hoceima in Broad Security Move
The General Directorate of National Security announced on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, a new movement among security officials affecting several cities.
Among the most notable appointments, Omar Aourag, who held the position of regional police prefect in Safi, was appointed head of regional security in Al Hoceima.
This movement is part of the rotation of responsibilities and the enhancement of security efficiency.
The movement also included the appointment of the former police prefect of Tangier as director of public security, and the appointment of the deputy police prefect of Tangier as acting prefect, as well as changes in Safi, Salé, Berkane, and Saïdia.
In parallel with Aourag's transfer, Dr.
Rachid Hariz, deputy police prefect of Safi, was appointed acting regional police prefect to succeed him.
