Al Hoceima: Battle for Four Seats Heats Up Before Campaign
Weeks before the legislative elections scheduled for September 2026, the province of Al Hoceima is witnessing intense political activity, with parties preparing for a sensitive electoral contest for four parliamentary seats.
Estimates indicate that the competition will be bipartisan at the national level between the Authenticity and Modernity Party and the National Rally of Independents, while at the local level, Authenticity and Modernity, National Rally of Independents, Popular Movement, and Socialist Union emerge as the main contenders.
However, other scenarios could impose themselves, as the Constitutional Union and the Progress and Socialism Party could upset the balance if they manage to exploit the presence of their candidates.
In contrast, the Istiqlal Party could be affected by the non-candidacy of Noureddine Moudiane, who had a strong presence in previous elections.
Observers believe that the outcome will depend on the organizational capacity and geographical reach of parties within municipalities, not just on the names of candidates.
With three weeks to go before the vote, all possibilities remain open, and the campaign could see new alliances redrawing the landscape.
