Nador hosts Africa's first Surf Foil World Cup
The city of Nador hosted on May 9-10 the first edition of the "Marchica Efoil" Cup, as part of the world tour of the "SFT Surf Foil World Tour 2026", becoming the first African city to host a World Cup for electric surf foil.
The competitions took place at the Marchica lagoon resort, with the participation of world champions and Moroccan and foreign competitors.
The technical level was high, with the Spanish Manel Arba Zuriguel winning the men's title, ahead of American Justin Chait and Austrian Clemens Kreiser, while Sweden's Agnes Wikander took the women's title.
At the national level, Moroccan Jamal El Kebir won the award for best Moroccan practitioner.
The event also included cultural and artistic performances celebrating the Mediterranean identity, including a closing evening with flamenco shows and a dinner inspired by Spanish cuisine.
The organizers affirmed their intention to establish the Moroccan stage in the annual calendar of the world championship, strengthening Nador's position as an emerging destination for water sports and sports tourism.
