Power and water cuts threaten tomato and pepper crops in Nador
Tomato and pepper crops in the Nador delegation of Zaghouan province have been damaged due to power cuts and disruptions in irrigation water supply, causing significant financial losses for farmers.
A young farmer confirmed that losses on one farm reached about 30 to 40 tons of produce on two hectares, with an estimated value between 20,000 and 25,000 dinars.
He noted that high temperatures increase crops' need for regular water, worsening the situation.
Farmers called for urgent intervention to resolve electricity and water disruptions, as well as an inspection of damages by the regional delegation of agricultural development in Zaghouan and assessment of losses and measures to limit damage to the agricultural sector.
