19 new schools for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region

Data presented in Tetouan point to the creation of 19 new school facilities in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, including 16 educational institutions and three boarding schools, as the 2026-2027 academic year begins.
The sector welcomes about 1.039 million pupils, nearly 34 percent of them from rural areas.
The enrolment rate reached 93 percent, up from 75 percent when classes started on 7 September.
Expanding the school network cut the share of overcrowded classes from 5 percent to 3 percent, and the number of boarding schools rose to 166.
Some 907 institutions have joined the pioneering schools model, while preschool education has 4,182 classes hosting nearly 73,000 children, taught by more than 34,000 teachers, including 1,882 new graduates.
