A dead dolphin was found on Friday evening, washed ashore by the waves on Souani beach in Al Hoceima, an incident that mobilised local authorities and environmental services.
Citizens discovered the carcass before alerting the competent authorities, who arrived promptly to inspect the scene and cordon off the area.
The cause of death remains unknown pending scientific examination and a veterinary autopsy.
This case comes amid a rise in similar deaths of dolphins and sea turtles along the Mediterranean coast, raising questions about environmental changes and the impact of human activities on marine biodiversity.
