The city of Selouane is experiencing major disorder due to the occupation of public space and street vendors on the pavements, obstructing pedestrians and vehicles alike.
Some people set up tents to sell vegetables and other goods in the middle of the street, with no intervention from the authorities.
The city also sees a heavy presence of beggars and homeless people, including African migrants hoping to cross to the other shore.
Residents are outraged by the lack of deterrent measures and are calling on the authorities to act before the situation worsens.
The problem concerns the old town of Selouane, not the Al Omrane district, which saw similar campaigns in recent days.
