In Nador, election leaflets become waste for street cleaners
The effects of the election campaign in Nador province are not limited to rallies and outreach meetings: quantities of leaflets and campaign material end up as waste scattered across pavements and roads.
Several street cleaners say the period brings extra pressure compared with ordinary days, since some areas cleaned in the morning are covered again with leaflets a few hours later, forcing daily clean-ups.
According to them, the problem is not the campaign itself but how some participants treat public space.
They argue that keeping the city clean is a shared responsibility requiring the involvement of parties, candidates and citizens, rather than a burden borne only by cleaning staff.
