Hamma Chaabi in Driouch: tourism potential awaiting rehabilitation
Hamma Chaabi is located about 7 kilometers from the center of the commune of Dar El Kebdani, in the province of Driouch, on the coastal road linking Nador and Al Hoceima.
It features a small natural pool fed by warm waters from the depths of the mountain overlooking the coast, which rises about 100 meters above sea level.
The site combines warm waters and the Mediterranean Sea, making it a popular destination, especially in summer with the return of the Moroccan diaspora.
Residents attribute therapeutic properties to these waters, particularly for certain skin diseases and joint pain.
Despite the growing influx, the site lacks basic infrastructure such as sanitary facilities, rest areas, and management of cleanliness and safety.
In April 2026, the governor of Driouch province made a reconnaissance visit accompanied by officials, to study ways to improve infrastructure and enhance tourist attractiveness within a sustainable development vision.
Local stakeholders call for transforming the site into an organized tourist space, while protecting the spring and the coastal environment.
