Nador West Med port prepares to receive first commercial ships

The company set to operate the container terminal at Nador West Med port announced that operational tests have succeeded, moving the facility from the equipment phase to effective preparation for launching commercial activity and receiving its first vessels, including giant container ships.
The terminal features a quay of about 1,525 metres, a depth of up to 18 metres and areas of nearly 70 hectares, with an expected capacity of 3.4 million containers a year once all phases are complete.
In parallel, the Guercif–Nador motorway, roughly 104 kilometres long and costing about 7.8 billion dirhams, is advancing: the third section, closest to the port, is more than 95 percent complete.
Both projects aim to link the port complex to the national motorway network and strengthen the region's position in international trade.
